Tatkal — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Tatkal mobile application ("Tatkal", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. Tatkal is operated by Tatkal Platform and is intended for users in India aged 18 and over. By using Tatkal you agree to this policy and to our Terms & Conditions.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service. Specifically:

2. How we use your information

To operate the core service — publishing posts, AI-assisted matching, search, notifications, and chat between users who choose to connect.
Safety & security: to moderate content, detect and prevent spam, fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, and keep the platform safe. Some of this processing is automated (AI).
To send you service and activity notifications.
To diagnose crashes and analyse usage so we can improve the app.
To respond to your support requests.
To comply with applicable law and lawful requests from competent authorities.

Improving our matching (de-identified training data)

To make matching better over time, we keep a de-identified record of how posts matched: the text of the two posts — with phone numbers, emails, UPI IDs and similar contact details automatically removed — together with their tags, category, the match result, and whether a match was marked helpful or not. These records are linked only to a one-way pseudonymous code derived from your account ID; they do not contain your name, phone number, email, or account ID itself. They are used only to train and improve our own matching models — never sold, and never used for advertising. If you delete your account, your records are removed from this training set (models already trained on aggregate data cannot identify you individually).

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising. We share data only with service providers that help us run Tatkal, under their terms:

Google Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, file storage, hosting, cloud functions, crash reporting and push messaging (infrastructure).
Google Cloud Vision & Google Gemini (Generative AI) — automated content moderation and AI matching/search, performed server-side.
Razorpay — payment processing, only if/when paid plans are enabled.
Legal authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information (see our Terms, "Compliance with Indian Law").

4. Data retention

Free-tier posts are automatically deleted after 3 days. Posts on a paid tier are kept until you delete them or the plan ends.
OFFERING content may be retained to power matching and search, and is removed when you delete your account.
Your account and profile are retained until you delete your account (see Section 6).
Limited records — such as payment/transaction records, safety and moderation logs, and blocked-identifier records — may be retained longer where required for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or safety purposes.

5. Security & storage

Data is stored on Google Firebase / Google Cloud infrastructure and transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access is restricted by server-side security rules and authentication. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

6. Your rights & choices

Access & update: view and edit your profile in the app (Profile screen).
Delete your account: in the app go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently erases your account and personal data — your posts, photos, voice notes, matches and profile. You can also request deletion via our Account Deletion page or by emailing us (Section 8).
Notifications: you can turn off push notifications in your device settings.

7. Children

Tatkal is for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the app, contact us and we will remove the account.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective" date and version at the top show when it was last revised. Continued use of Tatkal after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
